Break Holding Test

The Break Holding Test is a periodic load test and calibration procedure conducted on mooring winch brakes, using a load based on the Equipment Number (EN) assigned to the vessel.

In the tanker industry, it is recommended that the brake holding load be set at 60% of the Ship Design Brake Holding Load (SDBML), which corresponds to the Operational Minimum Brake Holding Capacity.
